The application in practice
Supporting maintenance between busy building hours
A closer look at the challenge, the monitoring approach and the outcome described in Monnit’s application guide.
The challenge
A charter-school property manager faced weekend water damage, HVAC issues and unwanted after-hours access. A blocked toilet and drain had flooded a corridor and classroom before staff returned.

The monitoring setup
The team piloted leak, room-climate, HVAC and access monitoring. Gateways connected each building, and mapped sensor readings helped maintenance staff and school leaders locate alerts.

The reported outcome
Monnit describes the wider deployment supporting routine maintenance and identifying issues between visits. The same approach can help intermittently occupied community buildings, with notification owners matched to opening hours and access arrangements.
Case-study information and photography: Monnit. Reported results relate to the installation described; your project’s design and results will depend on its requirements.
A practical starting point
Zrozumcie, działajcie.
Where to start
Prioritise boiler rooms, washrooms and regularly used halls. Compare climate patterns during activities, overnight and over longer closures.
A change worth investigating
An unoccupied building cools unexpectedly or a wet-area sensor reports a leak.
Example scenario. Set limits and timing for your own site.Turn the alert into action
Send a location-specific alert to the caretaker and their cover, then investigate and record the action taken.

Measurements to consider
Use these as a shortlist. The right model depends on the range, environment, installation and accuracy you need.

Wykrywanie wody
Detect water at a chosen point near vulnerable plumbing or equipment.
Explore czujniki →Temperatura
Follow heating, cooling and storage conditions over time. Match the probe range and calibration to your application.
Explore czujniki →Jakość powietrza
Select the specific air-quality measurement relevant to the space and your assessment.
Explore czujniki →Otwarte / zamknięte
Record door or window opening events and investigate prolonged openings.

What matters for this application
Wybierz the actual air-quality parameter you need to assess; one measurement does not describe every aspect of indoor air quality.
How do the sensors connect?
ALTA sensors need a compatible gateway, internet connection and monitoring software. Suitable Wi-Fi models connect through a compatible Wi-Fi network. Confirm radio frequency, coverage and power arrangements at the actual installation points before choosing equipment.
Odkrywaj bramy →How quickly will an alert arrive?
Timing depends on sensor settings, reporting intervals, connectivity and notification rules. Email, SMS and voice options vary by service and plan. Test a controlled event, check that the nominated person receives it and confirm what happens if a device stops reporting.
Understand software and alerts →What should we prepare for a pilot?
Bring a site plan, the equipment or spaces to monitor, expected conditions, required accuracy and the names of the people who respond. Agree a trial period and a review date. Compare sensor readings with an appropriate reference and document any gaps in coverage or response.
